How Gleamin collects, uses and shares personal information, including through advertising cookies, pixels and server-side tools, and how to opt out or use your privacy rights.

This Privacy Center explains how Gleamin Inc. ("Gleamin", "we", "us") collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit gleamin.com, join our waitlist or email us. It also explains the choices and rights you have.

The short version

  • What we collect. Your email address if you join our waitlist or email us, plus information about your device and how you use our site.
  • Advertising. We use advertising cookies, pixels and server-side tools from Meta, Google, TikTok and Pinterest. They help us measure our ads and show our ads to people who may like Gleamin.
  • This may count as "selling" or "sharing". Under California law and some other US state laws, letting ad platforms collect this information can count as "sharing" for targeted advertising, and sometimes as a "sale", even though no money changes hands.
  • You can opt out at any time. Email us, or use your browser settings and each partner's ad settings. See Your privacy choices.
  • Our site is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect, sell or share information about anyone under 18.
  • You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Waitlist. Your email address. We also record when you signed up, which page you signed up on and your browser's user agent (a short text that describes your browser and device).
  • Emails to us. Your email address, your name if you share it and anything you choose to tell us.
  • Team area. Team members who sign in to our password-protected team area give us their email address and sign-in details.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our site, we and our advertising and analytics partners collect:

  • Device and connection details, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system and language
  • Approximate location, such as your city, region or country, worked out from your IP address. We do not collect your precise location.
  • How you use the site, such as the pages you view, the site that sent you to us, links you click (including clicks to buy on Amazon) and whether you joined the waitlist
  • Online identifiers, such as cookie IDs, pixel IDs and ad click IDs (a code added to a link when you click one of our ads)

Information from our partners

Ad platforms may tell us which of our ads you saw or clicked, and they may give us summary reports about the people who saw our ads.

Amazon orders. Our products are sold on Amazon. Amazon handles your order and payment under its own privacy notice.

How we use it

  • To send you waitlist news, early access and product updates you asked for
  • To answer your questions and help with problems
  • To run, secure and fix the site, and to prevent spam and abuse
  • To understand how people use the site, so we can improve it
  • To measure how well our ads work, such as how many people who saw an ad later joined our waitlist or clicked through to Amazon
  • To show our ads to people who visited our site (sometimes called "retargeting"), and to find new people who may like Gleamin
  • To meet legal duties and protect our rights

Advertising, cookies and pixels

We advertise on other websites and apps. To do that, we use tools from these advertising and analytics partners:

  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram): the Meta Pixel and the Conversions API
  • Google: Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing, Google Analytics 4 and enhanced conversions
  • TikTok: the TikTok Pixel and the Events API
  • Pinterest: the Pinterest Tag and the Conversions API

In your browser. Pixels and cookies from these partners load on our pages. They collect the device details, usage details and identifiers described above. Each partner can link this information to your account on its own service (if you have one) and to what it knows about you from other sites.

From our servers. Some of the same information goes straight from our servers to these partners. This is called server-side tracking. It covers events such as page views, waitlist sign-ups and clicks to Amazon, along with your IP address, browser details and online identifiers. Server-side tracking helps us measure ads when a browser blocks pixels. It follows the same privacy choices as the pixels in your browser.

Scrambled email addresses. When you join our waitlist, we may send a scrambled ("hashed") version of your email address to these partners, for example through Meta's Conversions API or Google's enhanced conversions. Hashing turns your email into a code. The partner uses the code to match your sign-up to an account on its service, so we can see which ads work. A hashed email is still personal information, and it follows your privacy choices.

Emails. Our emails may contain a small pixel that tells us whether you opened the email and which links you clicked.

Each partner also uses this information under its own privacy policy. Our Cookie Policy lists the cookies and pixels we use and links to each partner's policy and ad settings.

Who we share it with

Service providers. These companies help us run Gleamin. They handle personal information only on our instructions:

  • Supabase: stores our waitlist and runs team sign-in
  • Vercel: hosts the site, runs our servers (including the ones that send server-side events), keeps basic technical logs and provides cookieless page view counts (Vercel Web Analytics)
  • Klaviyo: sends our waitlist and marketing emails.
  • Sanity: stores the content of our site, such as blog posts and product pages

Advertising and analytics partners. Meta, Google, TikTok and Pinterest receive information from our pixels and servers, as explained above. They may also use it for their own purposes, such as improving their ad systems. This is why it may count as "selling" or "sharing" under some US state laws.

Other reasons. We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights, our users or the public, or as part of a sale, merger or reorganization of our business.

Your privacy choices

You can choose not to have your information used for targeted advertising. Under California law this is called opting out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information. Other states call it opting out of "targeted advertising". Here is how:

  • Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies, including advertising cookies.
  • Email us at support@gleamin.com with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share". If you give us the email address you used for our waitlist, we will also stop sending a hashed version of it to ad platforms.

A few things to know:

  • Your choice applies to the browser and device you use. If you clear your cookies or use a different browser or device, set your choice again.
  • You will still see ads online. They just will not be based on your visits to our site.
  • Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no common standard for it, so we do not respond to it.

Marketing emails. To stop our emails, use the unsubscribe link in any email.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy
  • correct information that is wrong
  • delete your information
  • opt out of the sale or sharing of your information, and of targeted advertising
  • object to or restrict how we use it
  • move your information to another service
  • withdraw your consent at any time

How to make a request

Checking it is you. Before we act on a request to know, correct or delete, we need to check your identity. We will usually ask you to confirm the email address you used with us. You do not need to prove your identity to opt out.

Authorized agents. You can ask someone else to make a request for you. We may ask for proof that you gave them permission, and we may ask you to confirm your identity with us directly.

No discrimination. We will not deny you service, charge you a different price or give you a lower level of service because you used your privacy rights.

We will reply within the time the law requires.

US state privacy notice

This section adds details required by the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) and by the privacy laws of other US states, such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas and Oregon.

Notice at collection. This Privacy Center is our notice at collection. The list below shows the categories of personal information we collect, where it comes from, why we use it, who receives it, whether it may be "sold" or "shared", and how long we keep it.

  • Identifiers, such as your email address, a hashed email address, IP address, cookie IDs and ad click IDs. From: you, your device and our partners. Used for: all the purposes in "How we use it". Given to: service providers and advertising partners. Sold or shared: yes, except your plain email address, which we do not give to advertising partners. Kept: see "How long we keep it".
  • Contact details and messages, such as your name and what you write to us. From: you. Used for: answering you and keeping records. Given to: service providers. Sold or shared: no.
  • Internet or other online activity, such as pages viewed, referring sites, links clicked and waitlist sign-ups. From: your device. Used for: running and improving the site, measuring ads and advertising. Given to: service providers and advertising partners. Sold or shared: yes.
  • Commercial information, such as the Gleamin products you looked at or clicked through to buy on Amazon. We do not see your Amazon orders. From: your device. Used for: measuring ads and advertising. Given to: service providers and advertising partners. Sold or shared: yes.
  • Approximate location, worked out from your IP address. From: your device. Used for: security, understanding our audience and advertising. Given to: service providers and advertising partners. Sold or shared: yes.
  • Inferences, such as a likely interest in skin care, drawn from the information above. From: us and our advertising partners. Used for: advertising. Given to: advertising partners. Sold or shared: yes.
  • Sensitive personal information: only the sign-in details of team members, used only to let them sign in. Given to: service providers. Sold or shared: no. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer things about you, so the right to limit its use does not apply. If this changes, we will add a "Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information" option.

We do not collect other categories, such as biometric data, precise location, financial information or government ID numbers.

Your rights in California. You have the right to know, delete and correct your personal information, and to opt out of its sale and sharing. See Your privacy choices and Your privacy rights.

Your rights in other states. If you live in a state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete and get a copy of your information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale and profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects. We do not use profiling of that kind.

Appeals. If we say no to your request, you can appeal. Reply to our decision, or email support@gleamin.com with the subject "Privacy appeal". We will answer within the time the law requires. If you disagree with our answer, you can contact your state attorney general.

Children

Our site and waitlist are for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 18. If you think someone under 18 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this Privacy Center, then we delete it or make it anonymous.

  • Waitlist emails: while you are on our waitlist. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a "do not email" list so we do not contact you again. If you ask us to delete it, we will.
  • Emails to us: for as long as we need them to help you and keep proper records
  • Technical logs and server-side event records: for a short time, usually no more than 30 days
  • Advertising and analytics cookies in your browser: from 90 days to 2 years, depending on the cookie. Our Cookie Policy has the details.
  • Information our advertising partners receive: kept under each partner's own privacy policy

Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls and database security rules. We hash email addresses before our servers send them to ad platforms. No system is completely secure.

EU and UK visitors

Cookies and advertising. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, we do not load advertising or Google Analytics cookies and pixels, and our servers do not send events about you to ad platforms, unless you agree first. You can change your mind at any time by contacting us.

Legal bases. We rely on:

  • Consent, for marketing emails and for advertising and analytics cookies. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • Legitimate interests, to answer your messages, keep the site running and secure, and count page views without cookies.
  • Legal obligation, when the law requires us to keep or share information.

International transfers. We are based in the US, and our service providers and partners may process data in the US and other countries. When we move data from the EU or UK, we use legal safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Complaints. You can complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes to this page

We may update this page from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date. If we make a big change, we will tell you by email or on the site.
